When our dear friends, Chris A.K.A “Peter” and Alyssa, asked us to attend their destination wedding in Mexico, we gladly accepted.
Jeremiah had never been to Mexico…I’d been before, but not coastal Mexico, and so we decided to make it our 2018 vacation destination.
The bride had chosen Dreams Riviera Resort & Spa as the destination for their wedding and we couldn’t have been happier. Neither of us had ever experienced an “all-inclusive” resort before and so we were thrilled to spend a few days being gluttonous and indulgent.
We sprung extra $$ for a higher-end suite for our short stay and were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. There was a jacuzzi tub on our balcony overlooking the ocean and pool, as well as a jacuzzi tub in the suites bathroom. King sized bed equipped with chocolates on the pillow every night during turn-down service.
The staff was both attentive and friendly. Transportation services to and from the airport were through Lomas Travel and they were exceptionally punctual and efficient.
On our first full day in Mexico, we started up a game of beach volleyball and enjoyed meeting new people from all over the world who joined in the fun. We took long naps on Balinese beds (cabana) ocean side and drank our weight in cerveza, tequila and mojito’s. We lounged in the sun and had tacos made fresh poolside, danced to live music nightly and enjoyed evening entertainment in the form of Brazilian capoeira, traditional Mexican dance and sang along to reggae.
The brides sister Danie put on a bachelorette party poolside, including one of the best goodies bags I’ve ever received and am still reaping the benefits of, followed by a little black dress dinner with the ladies and then an evening of drinks and dancing in the lobby where we met up with the groom and his boys.
On the day of the wedding, there was a nice ocean breeze and tons of sunshine. Because it was an evening wedding, the sun was setting while tear-indusing vows were being exchanged.
To bear witness to real love is an overwhelming emotional experience and we feel so blessed to have been invited to join in the union of two beautiful souls.
We had pan Asian in the form of sushi, pad Thai, and spring rolls with a side of miso soup from Himitsu.
Italian artichoke pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, crimini-mushroom risotto and fresh made bread dunked in olive oil satisfied us on our last evening at the resort, followed by fresh pastries and ice cream at the patisserie.
Between dips in the ocean, naps in the hammock, cocktails at the swim up pool bar and late night dancing, the entire week was magical.
We met loads of family members and friends that we had not yet had the pleasure of knowing and have come away with memories that we will cherish for decades to come.
Congrats to Peter and his beautiful bride Alyssa. We love you guys!!
